HIAB type Light Duty Crane Training in Saskatchewan

Light Duty Picker Training

HIAB Type Light Picker Training in Saskatchewan

It’s no secret that it’s certainly a lot quieter than it has been on the training front, however in Saskatchewan it’s actually picked up (no pun intended).

Seems that businesses that are closer to the US border are seeing an uptick and that is a good thing for us and for them!

This was out in Southern Saskatchewan and while many businesses are further apart than those in Alberta, the folks are incredible and always willing to learn a thing or three!

The 1-ton crew truck are by and large, the most popular with cranes by HIAB, Palfinger, Fassi and Amco Veba the most seen and used in the west.  Hiab type light duty picker training in Saskatchewan…or “picker certification” as it’s usually referred to is our bread and butter and we take immense pride in doing it very, very well.

We have developed some very strong relationships with our customers and will continue to provide the level of service they expect from us.  Our trainers have undergone a very rigid program to ensure they are well versed and understand EVERYTHING about operating an articulated loader crane from one of the best instructors in Canada!

The brands we provide the training on for the most part operate the same way, have a similar PSI or flow in the crane as others and by and large open up the same with a few little exceptions.

That said, the program is set up to be understood at a field level vs.  the boardroom level if that makes sense.  Our head instructor has had the opportunity to work for large corporations and small companies so he has the ability to ensure that all the safety delivered in the safety program, can be implemented at that level.  No big books, no endless walk around, no massive stack of paperwork!

To request more information, send us an email HERE,

Oh and don’t hesitate to ask us for training references, we literally have 1000’s of them and our customers are not shy about saying so!

Knuckle Boom Crane Safety Training

The bigger your crane becomes it’s likely to have remote control on it for operations and this is by far the BEST scenario as you are always moving with the load being handled and not beside the truck it’s installed on, it also gives the operator the best control over the entire lift site!

There is a lot for the operator to know and understand about operating this type of crane, for more information see our details HERE

You can contact us HERE for more details

Micro Crane Safety Training

Big Max Crane

These are small but mighty little folding boom cranes, they do light work of light loads!

They are not the same as knuckle boom cranes, as they only have one folding boom not two as the larger knuckle boom pickers have.  These are generally installed on pick up type trucks or mounted on the corner of many flat-deck crew trucks.  You may or may not have a winch and remote control, if not you are missing a great opportunity to add more versatility to your little crane.

This course is a 6.5 hour program, please contact us HERE for more details.

Northern Alberta Light Duty Crane Safety Training Program

We have been serving the Northern Alberta region for the past 7 years with our light duty picker safety training as well as the carry deck cranes, mechanic corner mount service cranes (see photos below) and our high voltage powerline warning systems.

Northern Alberta Light Duty Crane Training Programs

If your crane falls under the threshold for needing a “ticketed” operator at the controls and you are not sure what other types of training there is for him or her, we are it.
The “threshold” in Alberta is 8-tons (knuckle boom crane) or IF your picker comes with a winch that capacity drops to 5-ton winch capacity (single line pull capability).

If you are not sure, give us a call with the model of your crane and we will help you from there.

Our 1 or 2 day training program brings us out to your site, be it shop, office or laydown yard, as long as there is power in the shack, we can do the training.

Light Duty Knuckle Picker Training

If you operate any of the brands of cranes below, we are your one-stop source and being we bring it to you, this will save you money by not having to incur any expenses to send your operators and…we meet your timetable, not ours (the virus has us all slower right now), but it’s starting to pick back up.

Feel free to give us a phone call (844) 334-8847 or click HERE to send us an email

You will receive your full certification (3-year renewable), wallet cards, end of day summary, all other documents you will need to update your files.

Saskatchewan Light Duty Picker Safety Training

There is much confusion surrounding the picker requirements in Saskatchewan.

While I admit I have had a few conversations that have been confusing myself, it boils down to small pickers you see on the 1-ton trucks (see photo below), are considered “Power Mobile Equipment” and that as long as you don’t exceed 5.5 tons in lift capacity, you do need a certificate but NOT be in the Boom truck “B” program with the Saskatchewan Boom Truck Trade program.

1 ton picker truck

We provide our On site Light duty picker training (certification) throughout Saskatchewan with instructors located in North Battleford and Regina.

The program overview is as follows:

  • 1 day in duration (morning is theory, afternoon is the practical testing)
  • We use your picker truck
  • Certificate (3 year renewable) provided end of the training
  • Wallet card provided end of the training
  • All other documents to update your program (SECOR, Insurance, WCB, etc)
  • End of day summary
