I recently posted a brief summary on how to read load charts on Linkedin. You can see it HERE. However I did not go into great detail on how to read knuckle boom crane load charts, I simply went over the “other” information that they provided. So ill go into greater detail, but still in short form here so that that there is greater clarity. Because we specialize in light duty knuckle crane training, the information applies directly to that type of crane. The one dimension load chart above shows the following information: Crane model – 210.5 or 21.5 Meter/tonne rated crane NOT a 21-Ton crane Shows the capacity of the crane in both metric and imperial capacities When you
Electricity and Cranes – Guess Who Wins?
This is an older post, but needless to say, the same thing continues to happen needlessly. The system asks “why” or “how” but as usual, until someone dies, no one wants to talk about “how do we prevent this?” A 7.5 Kv powerline (service line) was contacted, it was a tight lift to begin with regardless but it may be an alternative piece of equipment may have been selected instead of this crane. The Effer crane had a jib on it, and looking at how it had to navigate those lines, as an operator, my choice (yes it’s also easy to say afterwards), that I would not have made this lift, but again, those choices are often ignored for the
HIAB Crane Training & Certification in Alberta
We understand and recognize that HIAB cranes are one of the more popular brand of ‘pickers’ in the market for good reason. Our training does not recognize one brand over another, it recognizes that ALL brands of knuckle boom cranes are good, it becomes the operator who starts to take chances running the crane improperly, whether it’s in the Alberta Oil patch, Saskatchewan’s Potash Mines or any other area where knuckle pickers have proven themselves to be the right product for the application. In the past, companies relied on the crane dealer to do a ‘hand-over’ to the end user, showing them the basics on the knuckle boom crane. It was mainly by sheer luck on the part of the
Does Your Company Need Crane Training?
I get asked this question many times over and the answer hasn’t changed. There are (at the time of this update), no Provincial requirements that mandate your company to take the awareness program we provide. All knuckle boom instruction is voluntary only. If you are told by anyone who sells cranes that you are required to have training of any sort (particularity in Saskatchewan), I would ask them to provide you with Provincially mandated proof! I get someone wants to sell you a training program, we will never “Lie” to you or mis-lead you in any way. You either want the program as part of your pro-active COR or safety recognition program, or you don’t. Suffice it to say, good
Picker Truck Training
If this is what your crew is operating, then you should be prepared to offer them our knuckle boom operator program. Give your company a competitive edge by showing that your guys have been certified to operate the crane. It’s a simple process, we provide the foundation for a good knuckle picker operator, like driving, we can’t teach anyone to drive like a pro in one-day, but we can give them a solid foundation to make sure they know the few items that can really get them into trouble as well as keep them out of trouble! 1-Day Light Duty Oilfield Picker Certification
Our one-day light duty oilfield picker certification training course covers all sizes of light duty cranes and boom trucks that do NOT fall under the provincial apprenticeship program for Cranes and Hoisting Equipment Operator. Basically if your crane can’t lift 8-tons up close on the load chart, our training will work for your compliance. See our FAQ page for more details or click HERE for all of the details. Edmonton picker training is something we have been doing for the past 8 years and many of our customers keep coming back as our program has evolved over that time to reflect changes from CSA.
