Course Duration & Certification

This is up to 8-hour on-site program consisting of:

Morning Theory (3-hours)

  • Crane control identification

  • Stability and outriggers

  • Load charts & radius limits

  • Outrigger load chart interpretation

  • Remote control understanding

  • Searcher hook usage (if equipped)

  • Jib deployment and load chart application

  • Lift zone compliance

  • Tilt alarm understanding

  • LMI / A2B basics and hazard warnings

Written Exam

A theory exam is conducted before practical training.

Practical Evaluation (Afternoon)

  • Pre-use inspection

  • Safe setup and shutdown

  • Lifting with boom extension

  • Crane travel and movement

  • Lift planning considerations

  • Practical operator test

Certification is valid for 3 years and meets up to:

  • 8 tons (Alberta)

  • 5 tons (Saskatchewan and BC)
