Course Breakdown (One-Day Program)

Our training combines theory, a written exam, and a practical operator evaluation.

Theory Training (Morning)

Topics Include:

  • Operator responsibilities under OHS

  • Crane setup, stability, and pick-and-carry limitations

  • Deck load capacities and load placement

  • Outrigger use (if applicable)

  • Understanding industrial crane hazards

  • Reading load charts and radius tables

  • Pick-and-carry restrictions and steering dangers

  • Dynamic vs. static lifting

  • Travel with load procedures

  • Communication and signaller duties

  • Mechanical hazards, ground conditions, and job-site risks

  • Pre-use inspections & documentation

A written theory exam follows the morning session.

Practical Assesement (Afternoon)

Operators will be evaluated on:

  • Full pre-use inspection process

  • Deck loading and securement

  • Crane setup and safe lifting

  • Radius lifting vs. deck carrying

  • Boom extension and rotation

  • Travel with a suspended load

  • Precise placement of materials

  • Shutdown procedures and safe parking

Certification provided upon successful completion.

Certification Levels

Your operators will be certified for:

  • Up to 15 tons (Alberta)

  • Up to 10 tons (Saskatchewan and BC)

All documentation aligns with employer obligations under OHS and CSA Z150.20.
